Replaces Kohler 41-403-09, 4140309, 41-403-09-S, 4140309-S​ and the extended family 41-403-01/03/04/05/06/08/10, 25-403-03/25-755-03-S, 2540303, 2575503, crossing John Deere AM34738, AM106357, AM102596. • Fixes No-Charge, Overcharge & Dead Battery Resolves regulator faults: battery reads <13V at idle (no charge), >15V (overcharge boils battery), headlight dims at low RPM, stator winding burns black, battery bulges. SCR fails short (overcharge) or open (no charge) after heat cycles. New unit restores 14.5V setpoint. Test old: with engine running, B+ to ground should read 14.0-15.0V; outside range = dead regulator.
• 2-Hole Bolt to Blower Housing, 3-Terminal Strip Hookup Disconnect negative battery, locate regulator on blower housing/engine shroud, remove 2 mount screws, photo old 3-wire layout, unplug spade terminals (AC in from stator ×2, B+ to battery +), mount new unit to same holes, torque to 35 in-lb for good heat transfer, reconnect AC-B+-AC in same order​ (reverse AC polarity = no DC output, but won't damage). Apply dielectric grease to terminals. Critical:​ this is a 15A unit​ — confirm your stator is 15A rated; if your engine uses a 3-phase high-current stator, this regulator will overheat.
